Hey Krista, this was really intense, in a good way haha. What I loved most is how you dont hide the hurt hear, you make it becomes almost mythic, like something weathered, burning, and alive inside the body. So visceral, I think all readers can appreciate it.
The elemental imagery was especially strong. The wind, blood, flame, weeds, and storm all made the pain felt less like a wound and more like complete destruction, very powerful.
I also really liked the ending, because “there, I will catch fire again” gives the piece a sense of return. Not exactly healing, but a special kind of survival.
The elemental imagery in this is stunning. Fire, wind, blood, and storm all become extensions of the speaker’s inner world, making the hurt feel both deeply personal and impossibly vast. I especially loved the shift in the final lines: “there, i will catch fire again.” What begins as a poem about devastation transforms into one of endurance. Even after being undone, there is still the possibility of becoming something fierce and alive once more.
Just beautiful!
